Little Bear's First Parent Teacher Conference/Report Card
First I was freaking out that Little Bear was getting homework and now parent teacher conferences and report cards. Umm, does his school know he is only 3 years old? Though I have to admit I was totally looking forward to the parent teacher conference. I am so curious as to who Little Bear plays with, if he shares etc.
So the actual conference with the teacher went better than expected. She told me that Little Bear is
- great at sharing
- loves to clean up
- can always be counted on to participate in dance and movement and sings at the top of his lungs.
Is she talking about the same Little Bear?
We talked about how he is very age appropriate on things like coloring, recognizing letters, starting to write etc. The best part was she didn't really get into the potty training issue (read about it here) besides to say I know your working on it.
At the very end she handed me his report card. It actually was pretty cute and had categories that made sense for a preschooler to be graded on like sharing, listening, using scissors etc.
Little Bear aced that report card and got all good marks except for one area where he needs to work on it hence why they grade it a W.
Do you see it?? Yup, my bear needs to work on his GALLOPING SKILLS. Say what???? I mean is this even a skill you will ever use in life besides when your in preschool? And though I think it's super silly, I am going to work on galloping with him. I'm sure it will be a funny sight, me all preggers and trying to teach a 3 year old to gallop, but I'm determined for him to be the best damn galloper his teacher has ever seen.
If you have kiddies, how old were they before they received their first report card? Pin It Now!

I had a kindergarten teacher suggest we keep my son back because his motor skills or something was lagging. Young and stupid, we listened to this graduate of Doh Doh U. and he repeated kindergarten. This allowed him to grow up thinking he was stupid and this thought was reinforced by his peers who made fun of him for being "left back" in kindergarten. He was 26 when he realized he was not stupid and went on to get a college degree and is now a very successful graphic designer.
ReplyDeleteDO NOT ALLOW any teacher to put your child in a box based on some dumb evaluation at age 6 or less. Allow them to develope at their own rate. A three year old who can not gallop may well become the best galloper in school by age 4 without any extra practice.
BAHAHA! We aren't to that point yet (preschool, report cards, and such)... but I now have this hilarious image of ME preggos (even though I'm not, and probably won't ever be again) galloping around the house with LW. Sending good vibes your way for success in the galloping department! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL GOODNIGHT!!! Teach that kid to gallop already what kind of mother are you!? hahahaha this made my day. Ahhh to have no stress in life but perfecting your gallop!
ReplyDeleteThis is ADORABLE, galloping? Eek! I do not think I can do that and I graduated college!

When I was pregnant with my second, my first starting imitating at 14 months old my pregnant lady waddle. The galloping made me think of that for some reason and am with the majority would love to see the video of you pregnant trying to teach this. Seriously where do they come up with this stuff, lol :)
ReplyDeleteGalloping?! Is this real life?! I can't wait to hear how his lessons go :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, preschool meant fun and homework wasn't assigned until the seventh grade. Kids played rather than worked all the time to meet test standards. I miss the good old days when kids could be carefree, and nobody worried about whether or not one could gallop since we'd all do it eventually.
